What would you do if...

For the next few posts, I'd like to feature some Macintosh utilities that can be "lifesavers" in case of a disaster. Let's think about what you would do if you lost your wallet. Most people take identity safety and security for granted. We all carry a wallet which not only contains money, but contains identification and other important information cards which would be vital in an emergency.

For example, I have:

  • Driver's License
  • Social Security Card
  • Health Card
  • AAA Roadside Assistance Card
  • Vehicle Insurance Cards
  • Credit Cards
  • Cash

Imagine if you were out of town and suddenly had an emergency on your hands. Without those documents, it would make things quite difficult. In this case, the featured application of the month is 1Password. 1Password is a comprehensive and secure password and identity database. It can keep track of internet logins, identity information (social security, state identification), wallet items (bank accounts, memberships, drivers license, credit cards), and more.

If I lost my wallet, I would have digitally encrypted copies of all of the information contained in those documents as well as actual pictures showing proof of ownership. (Click here to see a screenshot of my 1Password database.)

Not only can it keep track of all of the information in your wallet, it can keep track of all of your passwords used for login in any setting. Forget a password? Open 1Password, enter one master password and gain access to all of your previously entered passwords. 1Password will automatically add passwords to the database as you enter them in your browser of choice to login. For more information about 1Password, visit the Agile team online by clicking here.
